Synopsis
A rock-opera, musical retelling of Jesus’ last seven days by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. In Jesus Christ, Superstar, this musical takes advantage of the fact that Jesus was considered a rebel in his time. It is the story of Jesus retold in a mix of historic and modern settings and costumes from the perspective of Judas, Christ's friend and disciple who becomes disillusioned and turns against Jesus when he becomes close friends with Mary Magdalene. Notable songs: “Jesus Christ, Superstar”; “I Don't Know How to Love Him”; “Heaven on Their Minds”; “Everything's Alright”. Jesus Christ, Superstar remains repeatedly watchable for its rousing, unabashed earnestness.
